Danny Lee Dixon, 78 of 114 Butler Lakes Lane, passed away Thursday September 10, 2026 at his home.

The family is honoring his wishes for cremation. Services are unplanned at this time, details will be announced by Stonegate Funeral Service & Cremation.

Danny was born in Virginia on January 8, 1948, to the late Leo Hughes and Ethel Black Dixon. He was a proud United States Army Veteran who carried the strength, dedication, and determination he learned through his service throughout the rest of his life. After leaving the Army, he followed his passion for trucking and became the proud owner of Dixon Trucking. He truly loved his work and took great pride in what he did. Trucking was more than just a job to him, it was a way of life. He seemed to know everything there was to know about trucks and could talk about them with anyone who shared his passion.

When he wasn't working, he enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He loved fishing, spending time at the beach, and gathering with family and friends for a good cookout. Those moments of laughter, good food, and time spent together were some of the memories he treasured the most.

He will be remembered as a hardworking man who took pride in his work, enjoyed life's simple pleasures and loved the people around him. His service to his country, his dedication to his career, and the memories he made with his loved ones will forever be a part of the legacy he leaves behind. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privledge of knowing him.

Danny was a beloved brother, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be remembered by all who knew and loved him for the life he shared with his family and the memories he leaves behind.

Along with his parents, Danny is preceded in death by, his wife, Deborah Lynn Dixon, who passed away in 1991; his fiancée, Dottie West, who passed away in 2026; his daughter, Amber Leann Dixon; and his great-nephew, Donovan Watkins.

Left to cherish his memory are his twin sister: Sharon Dixon Gibson of Charlottesville, Virginia; his children: Danielle Norris, Patricia Eguia, Karen Canada along with their mother Lulong Miller , all of Benson, and Gwendolyn Caldwell of Lillington; and his sons, Jimmy Johnson of Benson and Jeremy Chapman of Pinehurst; his grandchildren: Danny Lee Russo of Four Oaks, Brittany, Whitney, Sierra, Jr., Miracle, Megan, Christopher, Dillon, Sarah, Abbie, Caroline and Christian; Numerous Great Grandchildren; nephew: Christopher Gibson; niece: Jacqueline Gibson; and great-nephews: Charles Bright and Gregory Bright.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the funeral home to help off set the funeral cost.
